I’m Lauren, a Nottingham wedding photographer, and Prestwold Hall is one of those venues that gives you so much to work with. From the elegant interiors and grand staircase to the gardens and surrounding grounds, there are plenty of beautiful spaces without your wedding photos ever needing to feel overly staged.
I photograph weddings in a relaxed, documentary-focused way, so my approach is really about making the most of what is already happening rather than taking you away from your guests for hours.

Prestwold Hall sits in the beautiful Leicestershire Wolds, just outside Loughborough. This Grade I listed country house is set within an impressive 2,500 acres of private parkland, giving couples an incredible backdrop for their wedding day.
For those wanting a more traditional or religious ceremony, St Andrew’s Church is just a short walk from the Hall. It brings an extra sense of history and meaning to the day, while also creating some lovely opportunities for photographs as you make your way between the two.
The experience at Prestwold Hall goes beyond the setting. The venue team are known for their attentive service, while the food is a real highlight, with the talented kitchen team creating a memorable dining experience for you and your guests. Making the most of the light at Prestwold Hall
Light is the one thing you can’t fake, and the difference between a good photographer at Prestwold and a great one is knowing how the sun moves around the grounds through the day. I know where to put your family group shots in bright midday sun and where to move them when it’s overcast, so the light flatters everyone rather than leaving half the group squinting or in shadow.
Here’s something most couples don’t realise. The tall trees at Prestwold Hall mean the sun dips behind them earlier than the official golden hour, so if you wait for the time the app tells you, you’ve already missed it. Spring and summer are ideal for Prestwold Hall, with colourful gardens, beautiful outdoor portraits and gorgeous golden-hour light. Early autumn brings warm tones, while winter suits the elegant interiors perfectly. Whatever the season, the setting always delivers something memorable.
What are the best photo spots around Prestwold Hall?
There are plenty of great spots around Prestwold Hall. Inside, the main hall and staircase are full of character, especially in the evening when direct flash can create some really striking photos. Outside, I love using the parkland and flower gardens for open views and relaxed couple portraits. The pillars at the entrance are another favourite of mine, as they give you that outdoor feel while offering shelter from wind and rain when needed.
Can we have a church ceremony if we marry at Prestwold Hall?
Yes, St Andrews Church is within walking distance of Prestwold Hall and can be used for wedding ceremonies. Choosing the church can add a more traditional or religious element to the day, while walking over from the bridal suite creates a lovely build-up to the ceremony and plenty of natural moments to photograph along the way.
What happens if it rains on the wedding day?
It’s the UK, so we can never quite guarantee what the weather will do! But rain certainly doesn’t mean we have to compromise on your photos.
The pillars at the front of the hall allow you to enjoy the outdoors with gorgeous architecture around you, while keeping you protected from the worst of the weather.
I also love using the Orangery when it’s raining, as it brings plenty of greenery and natural surroundings into your photographs without having to venture outside. The dining space is another brilliant option. It’s flooded with natural light and gives us the chance to capture all the little details you’ve chosen to make your wedding breakfast feel completely personal to you.
I’m always ready to adapt, and sometimes a quick dash outside with umbrellas makes for a striking final shot.
Can we have photographs around the gardens without being away from our guests for ages?
Absolutely! I keep couple portraits relaxed and efficient, so you’re never away from your guests for ages. We’ll make the most of the gardens while naturally moving around, capturing a beautiful portraits with the many different backdrops at Prestwold Hall before getting you back to the celebrations.
We're really awkward in front of the camera. Can you help?
Absolutely! Most couples tell me this, and honestly, you don’t need to know what to do. I’ll give you gentle prompts and little things to focus on so it feels natural rather than posed. I’m there to capture the laughs, the in-between moments and the way you naturally are together, not force you into awkward poses.
